Deng Chong Ying (JULIA DENG, Australian Chinese woman) was born in 1950 in Shanghai, into a family of Guqin cognoscenti. As one of the inheritors of Chinese Guqin art from her family’s Zui qin house, and various collections of gu qin music scores. Immigrated to Melbourne in the early nineties, She is the author of the book Qin Yuan (deep connections of Qin) and the founder of Melbourne’s ‘Zui Qin House’.
Since young, she was personally trained and taught by China’s top Guqin masters – Wu Jinglue, Zhang Ziqian and Liu Jingshao (from them she has combined and blended various masters’ Qin styles, to develop and create her own guqin style- Zuiqin style ). She has been long time engaged in introducing the Guqin culture to both Australia and China. In addition, she has engaged in multiple Guqin teaching and dissemination programs.
In year 2003, Guqin was declared by UNESCO as the World Intangible Cultural Heritage. It further deepened her dedication to a life’s her full efforts to introducing Guqin to her expanding Chinese and foreign social circles, and multi-cultural and national groups in Australia. Recently, at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in Melbourne, she performed live in concert for the upper class in Melbourne to celebrate the Chinese New Year. At the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in Melbourne, she introduced the Guqin music to people from all walks of life in Australia.
She has also introduced Guqin through various events in Melbourne, such as communities, schools, religious societies, SBS radio, Confucius Institute at University of Melbourne, Chinese Consulate in Melbourne, Melbourne Town Hall, etc. She also held a “Guqin Symphony Affinity Gathering” in Melbourne Federation Square and Chinatown and engaged in Guqin activities with Guqin players and fans.
She performed at the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Venerable Master Chin Kung’s Dharma Propagation in Brisbane, Queensland, and is now invited to teach Guqin at Pure Land Learning College and the Department of Sinology Studies in Royal Brisbane Institute of Technology. In 2019, the Australian Zui qin House was established on the “Art Hill” in Melbourne, and sessions have been held on the research and exchange activities of Guqin and its studies. She will soon make introduction of Guqin at the Melbourne Arts Institute, so that the “world heritage” Guqin culture in making sure the legacy will continue be passed down onto future generations, and to flourish worldwide! – January 2022
鄧崇英
1950年出生與上海古琴世家，中國古琴傳承人之一，1991年移居墨爾本。是《琴緣》書的作者，墨爾本醉琴樓的創建者。
自幼受到中國一流古琴大師吳景略、張子謙和劉景韶的親授，傳承不同流派並融會貫通形成個人琴風，也是其先父醉琴樓和傳統琴譜的唯一繼承人。在澳中國之間介紹古琴文化、從事古琴教學和傳播工作。
自2003年古琴被聯合國教科文組織宣佈為世界非物質文化遺產後，更致力向在澳的中外友人、多元文化的群體介紹古琴。曾在墨爾本維州國家藝術館NGV（National Gallery of Victoria）為墨爾本上流社會慶祝中國年現場演出助興、和墨爾本維州國家藝術館NGV（National Gallery of Victoria）創建150週年的慶典上，為澳洲各界人士作現場古琴介紹。還曾為墨爾本的各界社會團體活動介紹古琴，如社區、學校、宗教社團、SBS電台、墨大孔子學院、中國駐墨爾本領事館、Melbourne TownHall 等等。還曾在墨爾本聯邦廣場和中國城辦“琴緣雅集”，與琴友和古琴愛好者搞古琴活動。 曾在昆州布里斯本為淨空法師弘法五十週年紀念慶典會彈琴助興，現應邀在淨宗學院和皇家布里斯本技術學院漢學系傳授古琴。2019年在墨爾本藝術山庄上建立澳洲醉琴樓，將開班教授古琴和琴學方面的研究交流活動。並將在墨爾本藝術學院開班介紹古琴，把“世遺”古琴文化更好地傳承和發揚光大
